Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. Is it possible to access the account via FTP, FTPS or SCP or to access the system shell?

No. The account can only be accessed via SFTP.

  2. What is the purpose of the "files" directory in the user account?

The "files" directory is used to store user files.

  3. What is the purpose of the "public_html" directory in the user account?

The "public_html" directory is used to store the user's website files.
Using this directory, we can also share files with other users for download.
For example: if you place a file "file.pdf" in this directory - this file will be available for download at http://ujk.edu.pl/strony/imie.nazwisko/plik.pdf (where "imie.surname" is the name of the account owner, without Polish diacritics). File names are case sensitive. If the file name contains diacritical characters - make sure that the encoding chosen for the connection is UTF-8.

  4. What is the purpose of the "Maildir" directory in the user account?

The "Maildir" directory contains the user's mail files. Modifying the contents of this directory may cause user mail to malfunction or not work.

  5. Does placing files in the "files" and "public_html" directories increase account occupancy (quota)?

Yes. All directories and files in the user account share common space and count towards the occupancy rate of the user account.

  6. I cannot create a directory in the root directory of my account or copy a file there.

This is normal behaviour. The "files" and "public_html" directories are used to store files in the user account, depending on the purpose.
