section 14 applies – until the last day of the winter term),

The Rector's scholarship is awarded to no more than 10% of students in each field of study conducted at JKU. If the number of students is less than 10, the Rector's scholarship may only be awarded to 1 student. Students who receive the Rector's scholarship in their first year of study shall not be taken into account in determining the number of students receiving the Rector's scholarship referred to in the first sentence. When determining the number of 10% of students entitled to apply for the Rector's scholarship, the total number of students in a given field of study as at 15 October of a given year is taken into account. If 15 October falls on a public holiday, the figure shall be determined on the first working day after that day.

In the case of a student referred by JKU to study at another institution of higher education in Poland or abroad in the previous academic year under an agreement or a student exchange programme, the condition for the Rector's scholarship is the completion of a given year of study no later than 15 October of the academic year in which the student may receive the scholarship.

The Rector's scholarship cannot be awarded to a student who:

  1. repeats a year of study;
  2. resumed their studies after being removed roster of students for failing a year.

An application for a Rector's scholarship, attached as an appendix to these Regulations, shall be submitted to the Scholarship Committee, through the Dean's Office, by 15 October of a given year, and in the case of students referred to in section 14 – by 15 March each year. The application must be accompanied by originals or certified copies of documents evidencing academic, artistic or sporting achievements, including information about the applicant, date, place and nature of the achievement.

The student is required to provide documentary evidence of the achievement.

In the case of certificates in a foreign language, the student must provide a translation made by an entity authorised to make translations in the Republic of Poland.

An employee of the Dean's Office uses the system to verify the formal conditions for submitting an application, the correctness of the completed application and, on the application submitted to the Dean's Office by the student, confirms the amount of the student's grade point average obtained in the academic year preceding the academic year for which the application was submitted, as well as the date of submission of the application.

The Rector's scholarship is awarded for the duration of an academic year, and in the case of students whose final year of study includes one semester, the Rector's scholarship is awarded for a single semester.

For second-cycle students (3-semester studies) commencing their second-cycle studies from the summer semester, the Rector's scholarship is awarded for the first academic year, covering the first and second semesters of second-cycle studies, and in the following academic year – for the third semester.

For students commencing second-cycle studies from the summer semester onwards, the Rector's scholarship is awarded on the basis of the grade point average for the third year of first-cycle studies (where this lasted two semesters) or on the basis of the grade point average for the final semester of first-cycle studies (where the final year of studies lasted one semester).

Students in the third semester of their second degree programme shall have their grade point average calculated for the results obtained in semesters one and two of their second degree programme.

For students in their first year of second-cycle study beginning in the winter semester, the grade point average is calculated for the final year of first-cycle study (where it lasted two semesters) or for the final semester of first-cycle study (where the final year of study lasted one semester).

The Rector's scholarship for the best students may be applied for by students in the first year of second-cycle study, begun within one year from completion of the first-cycle study.

The student's place on the ranking list determines the awarding of the Rector's scholarship.

An application for a Rector's scholarship cannot include achievements obtained
during the period of leave referred to in the JKU Study Regulations, with the exception of short-term leave

Persons who have achieved academic, artistic or high sporting achievements in the period between the diploma examination for the completion of their first-cycle studies, which took place before 30 September of a given year, and 30 September of the same year, may include these achievements among those obtained in the final year of their first-cycle studies.

The grade point average for JKU students is calculated in accordance with the Regulations of the Studies.

Students who have previously studied outside JKU should submit a certificate from the appropriate Dean's Office of their previous university stating their grade point average and any special academic, artistic or sporting achievements from a year of study lasting for at least two semesters.

Conversion of values and grades from the 2-6 scale into values and grades on the applicable grading scale
at the University shall be done in accordance with the model set out in the Annex to the Regulations.

Points obtained for the same type of achievement (outstanding academic performance, scientific, artistic and sporting achievements) do not add up. The highest number of points obtained for a given type of achievement is used for the total score.

The amount of the Rector's scholarship, depending on the number of points obtained, is determined in detailed arrangements according to the table below:

number of points

type of scholarship

10 and above

Grade I

4 – 9 pts.

Grade II

1 – 3 pts.

Grade III

The list of students eligible to receive the Rector's scholarship for each field of study is based on a ranking list showing the sum of scholarship points (ranked from the highest to the lowest value) obtained for the achievements taken into account when applying for the Rector's scholarship. Each field of study has its own ranking list covering all years, forms and levels of study.

If students obtain an equal number of points, the scholarship is awarded to the student with the higher grade point average.

In the event that students obtain the same number of points and have the same grade point average, the higher number of points for academic achievement will determine the award of the scholarship.

Where, after applying the criteria referred to above, it is not possible to determine the person entitled to a scholarship, the SC or ASC shall refuse to award the Rector's scholarship.

The ranking list is forwarded to the Rector:

  1. in the winter semester – by 31 October – for students who have started their studies from the winter semester;
  2. in the summer semester – by 31 March – for students who have started their studies from the summer semester.

If 31 October or 31 March falls on a public holiday, the ranking list,
referred to above shall be transmitted on the first working day thereafter.

The assessment of a student's application takes into account achievements from 1 October to 30 September of the relevant academic year for students commencing their studies from the winter semester and achievements from 1 March to 28 February of the following year for students commencing their studies from the summer semester. Achievements documented at a later date are not subject to scoring
