dr hab. inż. Barbara Gawdzik, Prof. of JKUBorn on December 3, 1964, a chemist, specialising in organic chemistry. She completed her studies in chemistry in 1988 at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Tadeusz Kościuszko University of Technology in Krakow. and in 1989 a two-year course in psychology at the University College of Pedagogy and Psychology in Krakow. She obtained her doctoral degree in technical sciences in the discipline of chemical technology at the Kraków University of Technology, Faculty of Chemistry, on the basis of a defence of her outstanding doctoral dissertation written under the supervision of prof. dr hab. Czesław Wawrzeńczyk entitled. „Obtaining new synthons for the Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction”. In 2012, the Council of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology at the Kraków University of Technology conferred upon her the degree of habilitated doctor in technical sciences, discipline of chemical technology, specialisation organic chemistry, on the basis of her scientific achievement entitled „Synthesis and structural modifications of biologically active phosphonates and boron derivatives with potential biological properties”.

The research topics of the scientific team, led by her, focus on the synthesis of biologically active hetero- and macrocyclic compounds. She is the author of dozens of scientific publications, several patents, and has presented her research results during dozens of national and international conferences. She is the supervisor of two doctoral theses and dozens of master's theses. After graduation in 1988, employed as a trainee assistant at the Institute of Chemistry of the Higher School of Pedagogy in Kielce, since 2000 as an assistant professor at the Department of Organic Chemistry of the Świętokrzyska Academy. Since 2017, she has been employed as a university professor at the Institute of Chemistry of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce. She served as the Vice-Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Development, Budget, and Finance in the 2012-2016 term and was elected as the Chairperson of the Committee for the 2016-2020 term. During the 2016-2020 term, she served as Dean of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences (formerly the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science). Since 2017, she is the head of the Department of Synthesis and Structural Research. Since 2008 a member of the Main Committee of the Chemical Olympiad of the Polish Chemical Society and Secretary of the District Committee of the Chemical Olympiad. As of 2019, she is the Chairperson of the Świętokrzyskie District of the Polish Chemical Society. In 2013, she was awarded the Medal of the National Education Commission. In 2016, she was honoured with the „Przyjaciel Studenta” (Student's Friend) award and in 2018 with the title „Wykładowca Roku” (Lecturer of the Year) awarded by the Student Government of the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce.
