Description of IEQAS

One of the strategic objectives of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce (JKU) is to ensure the quality of education at the highest possible level. This is ensured in particular by the provisions of the Bologna Declaration, the European and Polish Qualifications Framework and the guidelines set out in the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science.

The process of building a comprehensive policy aimed at improvement of the quality of education is constantly improving in response to the changing European standards and Polish legal requirements. It has been initiated by the introduction of a university-wide Internal Educational Quality Assurance System. Its manifestation was the implementation of the Act on the Integrated Qualification System (ZSK) in the University, enacted at the end of 2015. In accordance with the Act, the way in which qualifications are described, according to the relevant level of the Polish Qualification Framework (PQF), including qualifications at levels 6-8, relating directly to qualifications awarded in the higher education system, has changed.

As understood by Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, 'quality' includes improving 'educational quality management' and improving 'institutional management quality' by measuring the extent to which the expectations of key internal and external stakeholders are met and implementing mechanisms that minimise deviations between expectations and actual results. In order to improve the quality of education, Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce also implements quality improvement measures in the area of management of the University's resources, i.e., educational, scientific and ICT infrastructure, knowledge, and staff.

In the academic year 2012/2013, a Resolution of the Senate of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce constituted the functioning of a number of entities that independently implemented pro-quality solutions. These have been tied into a single, coherent, university-wide structure: Internal Educational Quality Assurance System (IEQAS) at Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce. It was introduced by Senate Resolution No. 26/2013. The Resolution presently in force is the Resolution No. 245/2019 of the Senate of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce of 31 October 2019, as amended, on University Educational Quality Assurance System (UEQAS), changing the layout and principles of functioning of this System. The new UEQAS structure is an Annexed to the Resolution.
