Simulations of Extensive Air Showers induced by primary protons using Corsika ver 7.74

Date: June 11, 2020

General assumptions include:

  1. Corsika compiled with QGSJETII-04 and UrQMD.
  2. Observation level: 150 meters above sea level.
  3. The energies of primary particles (primary energies) are total energies (in LAB frame) and include the particle rest mass.
  4. The primary energies are sampled from power-law distribution f(E)∼E-2.7, E > 1⋅1011 eV.
  5. The primary zenith angles, Θ are sampled isotropically in the range 0° ≤ Θ < 70°.
  6. The primary azimuth angles, Φ are sampled isotropically in the range 0° ≤ Φ < 360°.

The showers parameters are stored in text files.
Each text file contains 25000 showers (one "run").
Description of each shower starts from the header line which contains:

  1. Shower number (integer),
  2. Corsika code of primary particle (integer),
  3. E, primary energy in GeV (double),
  4. Θ, primary zenith angle in radians (double),
  5. Φ, primary azimuth angle in radians (double),
  6. npart, number of secondary particles registered at observation level (integer).
The following npart lines contain information about secondary particles registered at observation level (one line = one particle).
The meaning of the numbers in the line is as follows:
  1. Corsika particle code (integer),
  2. px, momentum in x direction in GeV/c (double),
  3. py, momentum in y direction in GeV/c (double),
  4. pz, momentum in z direction in GeV/c (double),
  5. x position coordinate in cm (double),
  6. y position coordinate in cm (double).
The kinetic energy tresholds for registered secondary particles are:
hadrons (without π0): 0.3 GeV; muons: 0.3 GeV; electrons: 0.003 GeV; photons (and π0): 0.003 GeV.
The shower "core" has position coordinates (x,y)=(0,0).

For those interested in analyses of Extensive Air Showers generated by primary protons with even smaller primary energies
we prepared showers from primary protons with primary energies sampled from power-law distribution f(E)∼E-2.7, E > 1⋅1010 eV.
In Corsika, primary energies E < 100 GeV are available for primary protons only.
